It’s Our Job….

I am going to Panama City in a couple of weeks.

I will spare you the anxiety I am having about leaving my children and the inevitable mommy guilt that I am suffering at the thought of not being here for a week. I wonder if there will ever come a time in my life when I don’t feel completely torn when it comes to my life and schedule and family. But that is a WHOLE other blog.

What I DID want to share with you today, is the INCREDIBLE doors that God is opening for us to share in Panama. I am heading there with five other women to teach and love on the girls of Panama City.

It is absolutely crazy. The local senator from the area contacted the missionaries we are working with a simple request: We need help with the girls in our schools. They are struggling. They are drowning in self-esteem issues. A LARGE majority of them have been abused and are in deep, deep pain. And the teachers don’t know what to do.

And so, the door has opened for us to spend 5 days in PUBLIC SCHOOLS, ministering to girls age 13-18, teaching them how valuable they are. The restrictions are almost non-existent and we will be able to share the love of Jesus with these beautiful girls. I can just hardly believe it…..

I can’t stop thinking about them. Their sweet little hearts that have been wounded and simply need to hear from someone that they matter… that they were created by a loving God who has unbelievable plans for their life. I want to put my hands on their face and look them in the eye and tell them that they are IMPORTANT. That their life means something. And that when everything else around them seems to be falling apart, there is a Rock who will hold them steady and strong. That there is a place to go with their pain and hurt.

So, if you could please join me in praying for this incredible opportunity – I would be SO grateful. I am believing for GREAT fruit and healing to happen.

And secondly, I simply need help financially. The trip is not cheap, and Jeff and I are simply trusting God to provide resources for me to be able to go. And on top of the cost of the trip, we have been given permission to bring the girls gifts to remind them of our time together. And lastly, one of the schools we are visiting is a bi-lingual school, and I feel led to bring them some of my devotional books including one I just finished which is entirely on self-esteem and knowing who you are in Christ. I would love to raise some money to cover the cost of the production of the books.

If you feel led to help, I have set up an online account where you can donate. The link is http://www.razoo.com/story/Missions-Trip-To-Panama-City
Thank you so much for your support and prayers.

I am reminded that our job as believers is to share the love of Christ with the world. I am reminded that as “older” women of faith we are commanded to pour into the lives of the girls coming behind us. This is our job. These girls may live halfway across the globe, but they are our responsibility. Our call is clear – and I’m just SO thankful for the opportunity to go.
